Cat5 Ethernet

ANSI / EIA 568B Category 5e cable (Cat 5) is a twisted pair high signal integrity cable type. This type of cable is used in structured cabling for computer networks and is also used to carry many other signals such as telephony and video.

Installations are required by law to use Cat5e LSF (Low Smoke and Fume)/LSOH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) Cable in residential, hospital and all new builds. Existing sites can expand using Cat5e as a cost effective alternative.

West Comms has provided, expanded and replaced Cat5, Cat5e and Cat 5e LSF to varying businesses throughout the South West including educational establishments, hospitals, offices, factories, care/residential homes and private luxury homes since the early 90’s in accordance with BS EN50173 and BS EN 50174.

All West Comms installations are fully tested in accordance with BS EN 50346 using high performance Lantek 7 or Wavetech test meters with printable reports from single line through to fully detailed. All Testers conform to the requirements of BS EN 61935-1:2009.
